The usefulness of the weapons is subjective. No one else was being rude or calling names in this thread so I'd hardly say we're the ones on the period. Sure alot of fights can be won with the blades, i know the fights could be won easier with a good choice of weapon. Isnt it always in games that a majority of players prefer a certain weapon, gun etc.? The same goes for GOW.

The Whip was also brilliant in a very tough Bossfight. The Blades, Cestus and the Claws are totally awesome and usefull in alot of situations, especially the Cestus. They got the Head of Helios and Hermes boots aspect right, but they abandoned other things like the Bow of Apollo way too quickly, or ignored them entirely. I get that God of War is more of a straightforward combat game, but making bosses that you MUST use a certain weapon (or 2, or 3) for specific phases is such an easy and fantastic way to improve the dimensions of an encounter. Where you incorporate multiple weapons in a puzzle/boss, or you can't pass it.
GOD OF WAR BLADES OF EXILE FULL
I want to see some full on Zelda and Darksiders reliance on weapons and items in the next game. They fell very short, because the only weapon that came remotely close to the usefulness of the BoE is the Cestus, and that was sooo risky because it lacked range. I remember reading developer interviews and them saying, "We really want the other weapons to be used more, so we're going to make them more enjoyable". They do the best damage, speed, radius, and magic ability. The Blades of Exile, like the previous installments, absolutely demolish every other weapon. It was my favorite weapon graphically because it moved like a snake, and had an amazing color trail/scheme, but was so inferior in damage that it was depressing.Īs for the actual functionality of them as it pertains to combat though? Totally lame. I would've loved to see Claws of Hades soul tearing ability be put to good use for more than just the one time you used it, the second you get it. , but they could've really incorporated them far more in my opinion. The whip was used for ONE thing too, charging the bridge Cestus for judges, scorpion boss, shielded sentries, and *ONE* stupid wall. Helios head for tons of plot progression, trophies, and hidden chets. They made a good move making some of the weapons needed for puzzles and bosses Bow of Apollo for the brambles. I definitely thought that the biggest shortcoming they had in this installment was the weapons. That being said, my personal favorite weapon is the Claw of Hades, just because of how crazy they feel to swing around. Just a little disappointing, but I overlook it mostly because of how awesome everything is.

Kratos has such brute strength, yet aside from the Cestius his ranged weapons kept getting smaller.Įven the Blade of Olympus was only usable after activating Rage. My only beef with the weapons really is the Nemesis Whip, which is just another ranged weapon.with some kind of electrical power.ĭon't get me wrong, they're cool, but I was a little disappointed there wasn't more of a weapon like the Spear of Destiny from GOWII.

And the Cestius (sp?) are interesting (a little ugly), but are fun to use, and remind me a little of the Gauntlet of Zeus from Chains of Olympus. The Claws of Hades are different, but not especially unique. I'm not surprised with the Blades of Exile, as there is always a new ranged blade for each game (except technically you get the Blades from Athena in GOWI). As I play through the game again on Titan, I was wondering what everyone thought about the weapons compared to GOWI, II, and Chains of Olympus.
